Lily Yang Liu

Based in the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, Lily is a student, social media educator, and Swiftie, passionate about human rights, sustainability, and climate literacy.

Story

In August, she represented United Nations Canada at the GEF Assembly and has since grown her social media following to over 100,000 subscribers, promoting climate awareness. An active contributor to the Environmental and Sustainability Council, she initiated World Sweater Day among other projects, leveraging her platform for environmental advocacy and education. As a member of YOUNGO, the youth constituency of the UNFCCC, Lily works within the Human Rights, Women’s Rights, and Global Coordination Team (GCT) working groups. Her role in the Women’s Rights group involves refining the Gender Action Plan and enhancing the Lima work program to include women's empowerment and intergenerational equity in climate initiatives. In Human Rights, She focuses on translating crucial documents, making information accessible, and fostering a deeper understanding of human rights in environmental policy. Through these efforts, She aims to contribute to a more inclusive and informed global discussion on climate change.
