Jillian McLeod
Jillian (she/her) is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and is a Climate Action Technician for the Vancouver Crew. She has a background in environmental politics and is excited to be working on projects which build community and support the climate.
Story
Jillian grew up on the traditional territory of the K’omoks First Nation on Vancouver Island enjoying the outdoors through surfing, hiking, tidepooling, and camping. She attended the University of Victoria in a double major program for Political Science and Environmental Studies. Her education highlighted the interconnectedness of social and climate justice and this continues to be at the forefront of her work. Prior to YCCBC, Jillian worked in environmental education in an urban park with a focus on restoration and climate linkages. This previous work aligns with the goals of the Vancouver Crew and lends a skillset adapted to the needs of Vancouver! Jillian aspires to continue doing community focused work, strengthening the relationship between climate action and justice.
