Anjali Carter-Rau

Hello! My name is Anjali. I currently reside in so-called Vancouver on the lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Story

Though BC has become my home over the past 5 years, I mostly grew up in California and have roots in both India and England. I graduated from UBC last year after studying International Relations, with a heavy focus on community, climate justice, and policy throughout my studies. Much of my university experience was shaped around union organizing and bargaining, which informs my perspective on the labor movement's participation in forcing real structural change in our current systems. I find inspiration in youth-led activism, and hope to be a part of something creating not just space, but opportunity for young people working towards a better future for all. Outside of climate stuff, I love being outdoors, live music, reading non-fiction, and watching/playing soccer! I am so excited to learn together and from one another as a part of this committee!
